British passenger liner Mamari was attacked by German aircraft off Cromer, Norfolk, England. She got stuck in the wreck of tanker Ahamo in attempt to avoid the attack. After sundown the German E-boats (not U-boats) torpedoed it. The ship would likely not have been attacked but for one reason: it was a decoy; it was modified to look like the carrier HMS Hermes.

Tilly L. M. Russ, German munitions transport is torpedoed and sunk by submarine HMS Taku (N38) in Benghazi, Libya.

German U-107 torpedoes Greek steam merchant Pandias, destroying 4894 tons of coal and 1050 tons of military goods including 11 Spitfires. The U-107 surfaced and provided the survivors (24 of 34) with water, rum and cigarettes.
